The first-version DS-4M has been revised with velocity response support while preserving the original envelope shape, which differs from later versions.
Since no new panels were produced for this revision, the velocity function is permanently enabled in this release (BEAT SENSE). Minor panel-related issues present in the first version remain unchanged.
Additional changes:
 - Gate signals are routed through the Sense Level pots, as on later models.
 - MIDI functionality has been expanded to include Common mode, Polyphonic mode, and CC mode.
- Velocity control via MIDI: Expressive dynamics are now possible, with MIDI velocity directly affecting the sound.
- Dynamic Gate Inputs: Gate inputs now respond to the level of incoming signals, allowing dynamic control over output volume for enhanced expressiveness.
 - The LFO range has been extended to 0.5–150 Hz.
This version will be produced in a very limited quantity. After this run, production of the black DS-4M, the original version, will be discontinued.
